What? Billy Corgan and Jimmy Chamberlain count as The Smashing Pumpkins? Since when? Oh, since Billy Corgan’s solo album tanked. A full reunion didn’t seem so important, then, I guess. Granted, Billy Corgan was inarguably the creative force in that band, but there were two other players…James Iha and what’s her drugs…D’Arcy? This is exactly why reunions are a bad idea. Dragging your legacy through the mud for some leftover glory and then playing karaoke with your hits is embarrassing. I’m sure it’s all couched in “we have more to say/unfinished business” rhetoric with bullshit, flowery blogs on Myspace, but no one is fooled.

Oh, the “comeback” show is at the Grand Rex in Paris on May 22nd.
