All five members of Seaweed are reuniting to play Seattle’s Bumbershoot Festival on September 2, 2007, according to a blog on Seaweed’s Myspace page:

“The band is shockingly thrilled to get back together and play in front of our friends and fans once again. All members have returned except they are now playing with long-time friend Jesse Fox of Polecat and Leuko, two excellent NW bands.

Also Jesse and I are working hard on new tracks as well in a shack in South Tacoma–demos should be complete by the end of summer.

The best Seaweed album is yet to come. Tentative title-Small Engine Repair.”

Tacoma, Washington’s Seaweed got caught up in the major label post-Nirvana signing frenzy that ultimately did them in. The band played a catchy brand of hardcore that got lumped in with the grunge movement, perfecting its aggressive melodic punk on its second record, Weak, in 1992. Signing with Hollywood Records for its fourth record, Spanaway, was akin to flying into the Bermuda Triangle (anyone remember The Fluid?). The album flopped and Hollywood dropped the band instantly.
