Smart, jangly indie rock a la local predecessors The Sea and Cake, though less polished, Chin Up Chin Up operates in that off-kilter pop universe, where twisted melodies meet up with catchy, quirky vocals. The cleverness doesn’t overtake the charm, despite tangential forays into learned and lush effervescence.
