The Pet Shop Boys are set to release Disco 4, which features remixes of tracks by The Killers, Madonna, Yoko Ono, and David Bowie. But Blur’s “Girls and Boys” has been vetoed for inclusion by none other than Blur/Gorillaz/The Good The Bad and The Queen frontman Damon Albarn because he feels that the Pet Shop Boys morphed the song too much to sound like one of their own. Additionally, XFM claims that Albarn may still be sore from Neil Tennant’s support of Oasis back during the notorious 1995 Blur vs. Oasis chart battle, which seems downright petty. I can understand wanting to avoid a fruity disco remix, but the grudge thing seems rather lame and sounds like tabloid fodder. I’m going to have to give Albarn the benefit of the doubt there.

Right – that grudge bit sounds like XFM speculating purely to make the story more interesting.
Can’t say I blame Damon – He’s a hero, though I know he’s a bit of a dick every now and again. But if he not into what PSB have done with his music, why should he agree? He could have just shut up and picked up the paycheck (though I’m sure he’s not hurting with all that Gorillaz dough).
