Another sparse and haunting acoustic cover from Jose Gonzalez, much in the vein of his famous version of The Knife’s “Heartbeat.” This time he tackles Massive Attack’s “Teardrop”, which is a daunting exercise, considering the fact that Elizabeth Fraser of the Cocteau Twins sings on the original, but he pulls it off. Highly recommended.

I guess it isn’t “old” since it is on the new album. Though mp3s of the cover have been around for years. Odd choice for inclusion on a new album. But then again, MUTE re-released Veneer several years after it had originally been released, so apparently Jose isn’t in a hurry to release or record “new” material.
