Short Cuts

Mental Floss serves up a mostly predictable tally of “23 Album Covers That Changed Everything.” Why 23 and not 20 or 25? How the shit should I know? It’s not important. I mean, the burning man on the cover of Pink Floyd’s Wish You Were Here really was on fire for chrissakes. Damn.

Meanwhile, the mother of all list makers serves up “The Top 25 Music DVDs” of all time. I feel gypped because Cocksucker Blues is conspicuously absent. (A friend of mine once dreamed he was on stage with The Glimmer Twins and found me beaming in the crowd with a sign that read, “Play ‘Cocksucker Blues’ So We Can Get Laid.” True story.)

Finally, Blender has assembled a list of “The 500 Greatest Songs Since You Were Born,” assuming, of course, you were born in 1980. ‘Cause, you know, Blender is the proverbial go-to guy for this shit.

I much prefer looking at this whole “writer comments on his own entry” affair as something more postmodern than pathetic. No matter, I would be remiss if I didn’t link to this.
