Nirvana’s MTV Unplugged session from November of 1993 is finally coming out on DVD November 20 via Universal Music. It’s so annoying how record companies hold back on goods just to milk the market every few years, but, sadly, this horse is primed for an unending flogging, since Kurt Cobain has been unwittingly appointed the patron saint of “when alternative music finally became successful.” The good news is that Nirvana’s Unplugged performance will be available outside of MTV reruns, complete with bonus footage. A behind-the-scenes documentary is bundled with four songs from pre-show rehearsals and extended band interviews. I’m most excited about the inclusion of “Oh Me”- the one Meat Puppets cover that was left off the original broadcast:
