My loathing of The Killers knows no bounds, but I can at least understand why Hot Fuss was a hit. If it’s dancey in a safe “alternative” cushion kind of way and it sounds even a whiff like vintage Duran Duran, people will buy it. I get it. Sam’s Town, however, is another story. An un-ironic, mustacheoed Springsteen homage with latent synths and aimless hooks? How that turgid mess made its way onto any radio playlists is beyond me. What astounds me even more is the fact that The Killers have a rarities album on deck. Rarities? Seriously? People are clamoring for Killers rarities? And to lure in the fence-riders, the band is including its incomprehensible collaborative duet with Lou Reed, entitled “Tranquilize”, as well as its pussy-footing, soulless cover of Joy Division’s “Shadowplay.” May the Gods smite them with all their unrepentant fury.
Tracklist:
‘Tranquilize’
‘Shadowplay’
‘All The Pretty Faces’
‘Leave The Bourbon On The Shelf’
‘Sweet Talk’
‘Under The Gun’
‘Where The White Boys Dance’
‘Show You How’
‘Move Away’

‘Who Let You Go?’
‘The Ballad Of Michael Valentine’
‘Ruby, Don’t Take Your Love To Town’
‘Daddy’s Eyes’
‘Sam’s Town (Abbey Road version)’
‘Romeo And Juliet’
‘Mr Brightside (Jacques Lu Cont’s Thin White Duke mix)’

the killers are an amazing band. I can understand where your coming from, especially with some of their bruce springsteen-esque music, but they have fabricated their own very powerful music
