Blender’s lists always need to be taken with an extra grain of salt, but this one sort of semi-accurately collects a handful of the some of the worst offenders. The order just seems a bit jumbled. I mean Sting certainly has over-stepped the bounds of pretentiousness on more than one occasion (name-dropping Nabokov was bad enough, but mispronouncing it was unforgivable), but worst lyricist of all time? No way. Number-one-with-a-bullet for me would have to be Alanis Morissette for her egregious misappropriation of the word ironic. The fact that the song of the same name actually became a hit speaks to levels of illiteracy in our country I’m just not willing to face. She almost made up for with her turn as a brow-beating lesbian on Nip/Tuck last season, though. Also, Anothony Keidis should be number two.

Alanis is a great lyricist. Listen to her second album, 1998… every song is thematic and represents an idea.

Ironic was shite but everything else on JLP was pretty much perfect. Where did she go after that tough?!?
As for worst lyricists, I think Eminem/Jay Z/Fred Durst/Justin Timberlake are fighting it out for the #1 spot lol they are dreadful
