Echo & The Bunnymen have made plans to recreate their monumental 1984 album Ocean Rain live in concert with a full orchestra in tow. The show is scheduled for September 16, 2008 at London’s Royal Albert Hall. Despite the fact that drummer Pete DeFreitas died over 18 years ago and bassist Les Pattison abandoned the reunited Bunnymen after 1997’s Evergreen, the lure of hearing Ocean Rain in its entirety with a full orchestra is more than a little tempting. Founding members Will Sergeant and Ian McCulloch have certainly retained their respective chops, but these types of nostalgia trips can feel contrived and thin, especially when the original band is incomplete. I’d still probably go, if I could.

AMAZING…AMAZING…AMAZING.
I’m still reeling at what was a perfect and beautiful night, capped with a 2-1 win to Liverpool.
