The remaining members of Led Zeppelin sat down with Yahoo Music to discuss the upcoming tribute concert at London’s O2 Arena in honor of Atlantic Records founder Ahmet Ertegun. Guitarist Jimmy Page sounds rather confident in the band’s ability to bring it live after all these years, although looking at him hardly instills much confidence. He seems so fragile and…old. But bassist John Paul Jones has always been much more grounded in reality (not having lived in Alister Crowley’s castle tends to help), and he seconds the intensity of the band’s recent rehearsals, which seems to contradict media speculation that things were a bit rusty, especially in vocalist Robert Plant’s corner. Time is running out, and this thing will be all over Youtube within moments of the first notes of “Black Dog.” Surely, the John Bonham-less Led Zeppelin realizes how harshly they are to be judged, so I hope practice is going as well as they think it is. Bullshit bravado won’t outweigh the demystification of the once-mighty Led Zeppelin.
