After an unexpectedly popular first season of its dryly understated HBO series, Flight of the Conchords, the New Zealand comedy duo comprised of Jermaine Clement and Bret McKenzie has a full-length LP in the works with Sub Pop, who released a teaser EP, The Distant Future, back in August. Billboard is reporting that all of the songs expected to be on the record have already appeared on the show, but they’ve been tampered with extensively in the studio. The as-yet-untitled record was originally schedule to come out in January, but the release date has been pushed to April 22, which will limit the amount of time the band will be able to promote it, given the shooting schedule for its upcoming second season on HBO. Hopefully, the band will be able to tour because trying to catch them at Bonnaroo last summer was damn-near impossible. Meanwhile, The Distant Future EP has just been nominated for a Grammy for best comedy album, if that means anything to you.
