I’ll freely admit that I went to see Le Tigre against my will at the Justice League in San Francisco, back in 2000. It was sold to me as Lesbian punk rock or something like that and while I did go through a Bikini Kill phase, it was brief, and frankly I just wasn’t really that interested. That is until the band hit the stage. Their debut album became a road trip staple for me for years to come. Unfortunately, The EP and everything after failed to capture my attention in the same manner and I lost track of Le Tigre. Until the other day when the always fabulous BigStereo posted about MEN.
MEN is essentially Le Tigre minus Kathleen Hanna, or more accurately, MEN is JD Samson and Johanna Fateman. The sound is similar and occasionally just as catchy, as evidenced by the track Shake off. (actually, upon further listening, it reminds me a lot of Barcelona, particularly Shell Account.)
And just for kicks, here’s the video for Deceptacon

I’m probably going to try and catch them at the Black Cat in DC on the 7th.
