Granted, it is a pretty bad ass song for a Nike commercial, but still. SAUL?! What gives?

saul williams sucks. i saw him two years ago in little rock with nin. the set sucked. he lectured us about racism, when he was probably in the most tolerant venue/fan group in the south. i was taking a piss and everyone in the john was talking about how they didn’t appreciate that shit. fuck saul williams. “I’m so gay and black….can i have a dollar?” all the attention given to him is wasted.

the guy has to make a living somehow. it’s not like everybody else who works a real job is considered a ‘sellout’. cut him some slack, it’s not like his albums sell enough copies to support him.

The sellout label is more tongue-in-cheek than a serious dig at the man. I know he has to eat. It’s just that Nike seems like the antithesis of Saul.

wasteful endeavor to try and define or quickly contradict what someone like saul stands for. need to digest, at minimum, ten of his best stanzas spoken or sung. you need to drop down and listen with fists clenched or better yet, not, to get a taste of what is he. that his message isn’t your ideal perfection and that he certainly makes no claim to be. it’s a more complex approach at critical thinking and adaptive being that takes into account everything with perhaps the most unyielding, uncompromisingly rigidly beautiful foundational basis for being, that is, breathing.
