Even after all these months, Foals still garners the top spot in my playlist. I can’t get sick of this record no matter how many times I listen to it, especially “Red Sox Pugie.” And, evidently, I’m guilty of spreading the disease. “Olympic Airways” betrays the band’s latent Cure obsession, even if the video is more Thoreau than it is Tim Pope. If only The Cure wrote songs like this these days.
Evidently, the band’s new record sounds like “the dream of a dying eagle“, which is puzzling and pretentious, but I can’t help but be excited.

Foals almost sound like what I wished The Rapture would have sounded like if they hadn’t fallen in with the electroclash crowd right before Echoes was recorded or re-recorded or whatever they did to ruin their sound between 1999 and now. Remember Olio (the original!) and Out of the Races and Onto The Tracks?!
