Duran Duran’s Rio has undergone the “making of” treatment via the Classic Albums DVD series. In it the band looks back at how it happened that their second record catapulted them to international superstardom. Bassist John Taylor attributes the success to keeping things simple. Well, that and those videos, of course. Says Taylor: “It’s probably the most complete package from start to finish. It’s the most iconic in every way — the cover art, or the video [for ‘Rio’], which was voted number one [of all time] by the MTV viewers.” The following video is for “The Chauffeur”, the gloomy and cryptic closing track on Rio and one of Duran Duran’s finest moments on either video or record, the lovely ladies notwithstanding.
