Enter the lotusflow3r

No stranger to cryptic, inscrutable websites, the reigning king of halftime shows, Prince, has launched yet another web venture at lotusflow3r.com. After waiting about ten minutes for nothing to happen, I signed up, but have no idea what that means because I was only told “Ur In The System.” Super. So, now what do I do? Well, there are three new tunes represented by cartoon cassettes that, if clicked, will load into an old school boombox and play. There’s also some weird video thing that is a major system hog. More to come, I guess. But based on Prince’s launch party last night, you’d think it were streaming golden balloons right out of the monitor. 50 lucky guests were invited to Prince’s basement in Beverly Hills to bear witness to an intimate show. Covers were on Prince’s mind, including The Cars’ “Let’s Go”, The Rolling Stones’ “Miss You”, The Doobie Brothers’ “Long Train Running”, Mary J. Blige’s “Be Happy” and a Sly & the Family Stone medley. I’d love to see footage of that Cars cover.
