With each leaked new song, I’ve been getting more and more excited about …And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead’s sixth LP, The Century of Self, and now the entire record is streaming over at Spinner. I’m only a few songs in, but I can already tell it destroys the last two albums. The band sounds re-focused and re-energized but as bombastic and pompous as ever. That’s what I always loved about them, though. The extreme dynamics. The over the top prog-rock lavishes. And the fury with which they attack their instruments. It’s a big record, sonically. My tiny computer speakers can barely contain the sound. So far, so rocking.
