Depeche Mode shut down Hollywood Boulevard last night to perform on Jimmy Kimmel Live. Over 12,000 people showed up for the 45 minute set, featuring the band’s new single, “Wrong”, as well as a handful of classics, including “Personal Jesus” off the band’s breakthrough 1990 album, Violator. Pretty impressive commotion, but Depeche Mode fans are notoriously loyal, especially in California. Kimmel hasn’t had a crowd this big since Coldplay performed back in 2003. Depeche Mode’s Sounds of the Universe came out Tuesday.

Man. That really looks like it would have been a lot of fun! (Though, that version of Personal Jesus wasn’t all that impressive.)

Yeah, his voice is impressive. I just felt that arrangement was a bit thin. I think of PJ as a stadium rocker. Big and full and overpowering.
