As a general rule, my list of favorite singles of the year doesn’t include any tracks that are included within my Top 10 Albums of the Year list. This prevents the obvious potential overlap of the lists. These tracks were released in 2009 and listened to innumerable times at some point over the past 12 months, often on repeat. I’ve probably forgotten some amazing songs from this year, but these are the ones that stood out in my mind, and therefore made it on to this list. Feel free to list some of your favorites from the year that was 2009.
- Grizzly Bear – Two Weeks
- Maluca – El Tigeraso
- Esser – Headlock
- Annie – Songs Remind Me of You
- Ou Est Le Swimming Pool – Dance The Way I Feel
- Pony Pony Run Run – Hey You
- I Blame Coco – The Constant
- Regina Spektor – Dance Anthem of the ’80s
- Makthaverskan- German Boy
- Yeah Yeah Yeahs – Zero
