VIDEO: A Place to Bury Strangers “Ego Death”

I need to revisit Exploding Head, A Place to Bury Strangers’ LOUD sophomore LP. I listened to it a good bit when it first came out last fall, and then it dropped right off my radar. The overblown intensity of the lighting in this video for “Ego Death” matches the overblown intensity of the screeching guitars that serve as a backdrop for Oliver Ackermann’s Americanized Jesus and Mary Chain drawl. The whole record is just a steamroll of pure shoegaze noise bliss. But with hooks.

    I, too, kind of slept on Exploding head last year – only now getting around to realizing what an incredible record it is. “Ego Death” and “Keep Slipping Away” are two of my favs. They’re playing next week in B’more with The Big Pink at Ram’s Head. Definitely going! And I also want one of their custom pedals:
