I think this song could make a believer out of anyone on the fence about this band. I imagine there are plenty of people put off by the hype and the accolades, and that’s a shame. The lyrics are just too insanely good to be ignored, and Alex Turner is too fucking young to be this crafty with words. He’s got it all down on Favourite Worst Nightmare, though. The turns of phrase are mind-bogglingly clever, but underneath the laddish front, certain lines hit you like a ton of bricks. The way this particular song builds is so far beyond any empty tripe like the Kaiser Chiefs that it’s insane. I simply cannot stop listening to it.
Here’s one verse:
Not shy of a spark
The knife twists at the thought that I should fall short of the mark
Frightened by the bite though its no harsher than the bark
The middle of adventure is such a perfect place to start

505 is my favorite song on this album and quickly growing into my favorite arctic song. I generally like their slower vocal songs better.
