The AV Club has compiled a list of the top 15 masters of on-stage banter. The winner is in a league of his own: Venom lead singer Cronos, whose ten-minute rant is the stuff of legend. It’s kind of obscure but well worth the time to stream. The runner-up is Diamond Dave, of course. And deservedly so. That guy threw out so many golden one-liners, not the least of which was this off the cuff emasculation of a legendary punk band: “The only people who put iced tea in Jack Daniel’s bottles is The Clash, baby!” It’s sort of ironic he couldn’t translate that gift into a successful radio show. Kiss’ Paul Stanley rounds out the top three with his relentlessly positive gay cheerleader schtick. The list declines quickly after that, but there’s plenty of gold to be found.
