Amy Winehouse’s drug problems are not exactly low profile. Even my mom knows “she’s a little weird.” But having dropped out of The Rolling Stones’ A Bigger Bang tour for reports of “narcotic dementia” have inspired one Mick Jagger to put on his cape and try to save the day. Evidently, neither his wallet nor his penis is to blame. For once.

Isn’t that like the pot calling the…ahh, the Guardian has already beaten you to it, asking whether Jagger’s seemingly altruistic bid is either “the sane advice of someone who’s been there, done that? Or rank hypocrisy from an old git?”

Quoth Jagger: “Amy is a brilliant artist who makes fantastic music. But I’m worried she might die if she goes down the road that she has taken.”

The Guardian retorts that this whole scenario “is a bit rich from someone who presided over the deaths of Meredith Hunter at Altamont and country-rocker Gram Parsons in the desert and probably encouraged more people to live dissolute and degenerate lives than any other man extant who isn’t called Keef or Iggy.”
