I’ve always preferred this version, which also happens to feature in Chris Petit’s Radio On.
Speaking of Radio On, here’s a promo snippet:
“RADIO ON was stunningly photographed in luminous black and white monochrome by Martin Schaefer (Wenders’ cinematographer), and driven by a startling soundtrack (Bowie, Kraftwerk, Lene Lovich, Ian Dury, Wreckless Eric and more). Petit’s anti-road movie follows a London DJ (David Bearnes) as he travels to Bristol to investigate the mysterious death of his brother, and offers a unique, compelling and even mythic vision of a late 1970s England. “
The movie, which isn’t exactly uplifting, is finally available on DVD after years of being a hard to find VHS cult classic. It’s on NetFlix as well. (here’s a trailer) Oh, and it was Sting’s first role in a film.
