Damon Albarn readily admits to Q Magazine that he’s made two bad records: “The first record [Leisure], which is awful, and The Great Escape, which was messy.” And then he lays into his friends: “The Kaiser Chiefs’ new record sounds a bit like The Great Escape in that it sounds a bit empty. Sometimes records […]

Stills from Anton Corbijn’s ‘Control’
May 16th, 2007
Neworderonline.com has a collection of stills from Anton Corbijn’s forthcoming Joy Division biography film, entitled ‘Control.’ They look pretty amazing. You can’t expect the characters to look exactly like their real-life counterparts, but the attention to the details in the settings and in the clothing are astounding. I’ve been equally excited and apprehensive about this […]

Weezer camp denies curious url redirection hinting at a possible new record
May 16th, 2007
Rolling Stone is reporting some weirdness with the url albumsix.com, which apparently redirects over to weezer.com. Predictably, Weezer’s publicist denies any involvement in the curious interweb shenanigans. Rivers Cuomo left the future of the band deliberately vague after the tour supporting its fifth album, Make Believe, so that he could finish his degree at Harvard […]

May 10th, 2007
If I were Billy Corgan and staging a hugely-publicized reunion lacking half of my original band members, I’d keep it under wraps for as long as possible, too. May 2nd, 2007
Some random Interpol fan posted this in his Fotolog today. It may just be promotional art for this specific poster, but the whole wild animal/mountainside juxtaposition is quite an artistic leap for a band whose first two albums were certainly lacking in imagery. The cover art for “The Heinrich Maneuver” single is similarly themed.

Kooks singer chides Lily Allen for canelling US tour dates
May 1st, 2007
Lily Allen and The Kooks have had an ongoing sparring match, ever since Allen slammed the band for taking itself too seriously last summer. But then Allen presumably had kissed and made up with a cover of The Kooks’ “Naive” on her “LDN” single. Well, Kooks singer Luke Pritchard has turned around and slagged off […]

Boy George might really want to hurt you
April 30th, 2007
If you get handcufed to a hook in Boy George’s London house, you have obviously made more than a few incorrect decisions in your life. The former Culture Club frontman has been arrested for allegations of false imprisonment and assault, involving a 28 year old man, Auden Carleson. Carleson had been invited to George’s house […]
