Air’s Moon Safari, which was the first full album I ever ripped and mp3 encoded, is getting the 10 year anniversary double disc reissue treatment with Rarities, Remixes and Sessions. (spotted on coudal.com) I wish they had a clip of Jeremy Piven screaming “10 YEARS!” It would have been perfect for this post. Sigh.

“Crying Lightning” with Arctic Monkeys at Big Day Out festival
January 30th, 2009
A bunch of the new Arctic Monkeys tunes surfacing lately have been terrible quality bootlegs, but this clip of “Crying Lightning” from the Big Day Out festival in Sydney is the first tolerable glimpse of the band’s new direction. Having holed up in the studio with Queens of the Stoneage frontman Josh Homme doesn’t seem […]

Steve Martin’s not getting any younger
January 24th, 2009
One of my favorite people in the world, Steve Martin, is putting out an album of his idiosyncratic banjo picking on January 27, 2009 as a three-month Amazon exclusive. Martin’s been playing banjo since he was 17, and he’s been on Letterman a few times strutting his stuff with Earl Scruggs and other bluegrass luminaries. […]

Blake Schwarzenbach plays acoustic set in Brooklyn
January 23rd, 2009
Former Jawbreaker, Jets To Brazil and current Thorns of Life frontman Blake Schwarzenbach played a benefit acoustic set at Bar Matchless in Brooklyn last week for 826NYC. It’s somewhat strange seeing Schwarzenbach in such an intimate acoustic setting, when the bulk of his catalog follows the loud fast rules, but it’s definitely interesting. His wry […]
